Jason Cummings gushes over Australia 'honour' as Scotland cap opens the door to international allegiance switch

Scotland cap Jason Cummings insists it would be an 'absolute honour' to be called up by Australia to try and rescue their World Cup dream.

The former Hibs, Rangers and Dundee striker has rediscovered his form with the Central Coast Mariners and could switch international allegiances.

Cummings has won two caps for the Scots, but only played a total of five minutes after coming off the bench in both friendly clashes.

The Socceroos face United Arab Emirates in June for a two-legged, play-off to earn a spot at the World Cup later this year and the 26-year-old admits he would relish the call.

And Cummings admits he has already spoken to former Easter Road teammate Martin Boyle about the prospect of reuniting on the international scene.

He said: "It’s good to see that I’m getting recognition, a lot of people are saying they want to get me in the national team, which would be an absolute honour if I could.

"If I keep doing well, keep scoring goals, I might have a chance of getting in there. I’d love to be. I love scoring goals and I’d obviously work my socks off.

"I’ve had no contact yet with manager Graham Arnold and my main focus now is obviously with the Mariners and getting a top six finish.

“I’ve spoken to Martin Boyle a few times and he’s wanting to get me in as well. It’s not up to me if I get called up, but hopefully, I can one day."
