Craig Halkett facing Hearts injury sweat for Rangers cup final but knock 'not as bad as initially thought'

Crocked Craig Halkett is facing a race against the clock to be fit for Hearts ' bid to lift the Scottish Cup.

Robbie Neilson 's side will look to see off Rangers and Hampden to round off an impressive campaign with silverware in the Tynecastle trophy cabinet.

But they could be forced to face Gio van Bronckhorst 's men without the Scotland call-up.

The 26-year-old limped off in the semi-final win over Hibs and is a doubt to be fit in time for the May 21 showpiece.

The Edinburgh Evening News report that the Hearts medical team have set a four-week return timeline as a minimum.

Neilson stated: "Halkett had his scan and it’s not as bad as we initially thought."

However, there was more positive news on Andy Halliday and Stephen Kingsley, who both came off with knocks at Hampden.

Neilson added: "We will give Kingsley as much time as we can ahead of the game at the weekend. I spoke to him and we expect him to be ready.

"Halliday is touch-and-go at the moment but we have Cammy Devlin who could step in."
