Jamieson moves clear at Infinitum, Du Plessis in the hunt

Scott Jamieson continued his fine form this season to grab the lead at the ISPS Handa Championship in Spain at Infinitum's Lakes Course on Friday.

Jamieson carded a stunning seven-under-par 63 to grab a two-stroke lead at the tournament's halfway stage in Tarragona.

The Scot has been on a strong run of form in 2022 and has now led or co-led more tournament rounds than any other player this season, with five.

Jamieson topped the leaderboard in all of the first three rounds at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, while he also shared the lead in the opening round of February's Ras Al Khaimah Championship.

"Obviously, this year, I seem to be coming out of the gates very well. I've had some good starts so far," he said.

"It's easy to play the golf course in the first two rounds because you are not necessarily playing against other people at that point," 

"This year has been good to me so far and just trying to continue the same swing thoughts and ingrain a couple of more things. Really just spending some time off with the family was fun then hitting the reset button."

Jamieson is still awaiting that elusive second victory on Tour - his sole career win having come back in 2012 at the Nelson Mandela Championship - but he has put himself in another strong position in Spain after moving to an 11 under leading total.

"It gets tougher as the tournament goes on, so hopefully, I can do a good job of just continuing to play the golf course," said Jamieson.

"It's certainly a different mindset, but I'd rather have shot a couple of shots less so far than anyone else."
