Jamie Vardy gives 'brilliant' response to Leicester City comeback against PSV
Jamie Vardy had to watch on from the sidelines as Leicester City came from behind to reach the semi-finals of the Europa Conference League, but he was no less thrilled about the monumental achievement.
Brendan Rodgers' men defeated PSV Eindhoven at the Philips Stadion after going down a goal in the first half. James Maddison cancelled out Eran Zahavi's opener before Ricardo Pereira sealed the win in the 88th minute with a super strike.
The Foxes will now feature in the last four of a European competition for the first time in their history when they take on AS Roma in a two-legged tie either side of the end of April. The two clubs have never faced each other in competitive action before.
Jose Mourinho's charges managed a comeback of their own against Norwegian underdogs Bodo/Glimt, who defeated his team earlier in the competition before knocking out Celtic. They lost the first leg 2-1 before winning 4-0 in front of their own fans at the Stadio Olimpico, with Tammy Abraham opening the scoring before Nicolo Zaniolo scored a hat-trick.
The result has inspired an avalanche of reactions from current and former players, fans and pundits as the significance of City's achievement begins to sink in. Vardy was, naturally, among them.
The striker took to Instagram to express his delight at the result as they look forward to the semi-final. He posted a photo of the team celebrating the winning goal, with the caption: "What a comeback, absolutely brilliant".
The comments were filled with Leicester supporters telling the 35-year-old that miss him lining out for the team and hoping they see him back on the pitch soon. Rodgers' latest injury update suggests he could be back for the first leg against Roma.
