James Tavernier lands brutal Rangers legacy assessment from Jury as Celtic transfer drive put in focus

Andy Newport: Plenty of goals but not nearly enough medals is how I’d assess the right-back’s contribution these past nine years. He was key to lifting the club’s 2021 title and just as important on the road to Seville but three trophies simply isn’t enough for almost a decade at Ibrox. Good servant but not a club great.

Scott Burns: Tavernier deserves his place in the club’s hall of fame for the ridiculous amount of goals he’s scored from full-back and his part in returning Rangers to the top of Scottish football with their title success in 2021. But a true great? I’m not sure he ranks alongside the bona fide Ibrox legends.

Fraser Wilson: Tavernier has been a blame figure for Gers fans in recent years simply because he has worn the armband but his goals and assist record is phenomenal and he does at least have one title to his name. Looking at some of the names in the Ibrox Hall of Fame then he deserves to sneak in there for his numbers alone. But nowhere near the greats like Greig, McCoist, Cooper or Ferguson.

Andy Newport: At 37 Hart was showing signs of wear and tear but at the same age, Schmeichel looks like he’s got plenty miles left in the tank. He was solid at the Euros and his knowledge of working alongside Rodgers at Leicester should make the Dane an easy fit at Parkhead.

Scott Burns: Yes. Obviously, he’s not the long-term solution to Celtic’s goalkeeping issue. But his wealth of experience, winning mentality and quality between the sticks makes him perfect for what Brendan Rodgers is looking for this season - with Finnish stopper Filjami Sinisalo waiting in the wings to eventually take over as No1.

Fraser Wilson: This is box office stuff for us goalie freaks. Hart was exceptional in three years at Parkhead
