Jake Paul vs Anderson Silva: UFC president Dana White reveals how he really feels about the fight
UFC president Dana White has praised the potential booking of Jake Paul vs Anderson Silva as a ‘real fight’.
It’s not exactly a secret that Dana White isn’t the biggest fan of the YouTube/celebrity boxing community. From mixed martial stars getting knocked out to Jake Paul going after him over fighter pay, White tends to get pretty frustrated whenever the topic of ‘The Problem Child’ is brought up.
We all know Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz are two big names on Paul’s hitlist but before that, the idea of him delving into the MMA world once again can’t be ruled out.
The rumour mill has recently been suggesting that he wants to square off against 47-year-old Anderson Silva, considered by many to be one of the leading contenders in the greatest of all-time debate.
It’d almost certainly be his biggest challenge yet and when posed with a question about the match-up during a post-fight press conference, Dana couldn’t help but admit that this was a notable step up in competition.
“I don’t give a s***, but, if he’s really fighting Anderson Silva, if he’s really fighting Anderson Silva, if that’s true, it’s about time. He’s got a real fight on his hands there, regardless of how old Anderson is. That’s a real fight.”
If it does get booked, this would be the third MMA fighter that Paul has faced on a professional level after previously knocking off Ben Askren and Tyron Woodley, both of whom fought at welterweight.
Paul teased a major announcement over the weekend regarding who he’ll take on next after bouts with Tommy Fury and Hasim Rahman Jr both fell through. According to Ariel Helwani, the fight will take place at 185 pounds, although it has yet to become official with talks still ongoing.
