Jake Paul points finger of blame for Tommy Fury fight failure and says 'I feel bad'

Jake Paul has launched a scathing attack on John Fury, claiming he is the main obstacle to a rematch with Tommy Fury. The pair have been engaged in a war of words online in recent weeks, with talks of a potential sequel to their February 2023 bout in Saudi Arabia.

Fury won that closely contested fight via split decision, handing Paul his first professional loss. Since then, Fury has only fought once, beating YouTuber-turned-boxer KSI on points in October 2023.

In contrast, Paul has been active in the ring, defeating Nate Diaz, Andre August, Ryan Bourland, Mike Perry, and most recently, Mike Tyson. However, Paul revealed that he was initially supposed to face Fury again in November, but claims the British fighter received poor advice from his father.

Speaking on RING CHAMPS, Paul said: "He was supposed to be the original person on Netflix (in November) and he thought he was worth more money. His 'dadager' is a f*****g idiot.

"It's bad and I feel bad. He's (Tommy) is somewhat of an airhead and he's listening to his father who is also an airhead. So, he's going to turn down the biggest payday of his life, the most viewed fight of his life... and just ego. It's just typical boxing."

During the same interview, Paul paid his respects to his previous opponent, saying he's the toughest puncher he's faced so far. "Probably Tommy. I think more so his timing," Paul remarked.

"I think timing is more important than anything. Tyron (Woodley) was strong, Mike Tyson was strong, but Tommy had better timing and better placement of punches."
