Jadon Sancho can prove he's turned a corner for Manchester United vs Leeds

Amongst all the doom and gloom in recent weeks the one glimmer of light has been Jadon Sancho.

While every other Manchester United player has seemed to regress and play within themselves following the winter break, which has seen them knocked out of the FA Cup at the hands of Middlesbrough and draw with Burnley and Southampton, Sancho was the one player who actually looked like he was getting better.

The one who had actually managed to find a bit of form and it's been a long-time coming.

That's not to criticise Sancho, countless players have found the switch from the Bundesliga to the much less open and more physically challenging Premier League a difficult one. Chelsea have a legion of forwards worth near £200million, all of whom have yet to consistently produce the displays they were signed off the back of.

It can take time to adapt even when the situation is ideal, like it is at Stamford Bridge with a well-settled team that knows what it's doing under the stewardship of an elite level coach, who is also German.

Sancho has not had any of those benefits. The England international joined a team that was incoherent in its structure, instruction and style, under a manager with little tactical acumen and then had his position in the team unsettled with the unexpected arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo.

It has not been a smooth ride for Sancho since his return to Manchester but he has perhaps benefited most from the arrival of Ralf Rangnick in December, a manager who understands exactly what he can do and has set the team up to suit him. They are both now starting to get the benefits.
