Jackson insists Burnley must learn from their mistakes against Villa

Mike Jackson hopes that Burnley can learn from their mistakes in the recent loss to Aston Villa when the sides meet again on Thursday night.

Unusually, both league meetings between the clubs are taking place inside a fortnight, and the Clarets will need to put in a better performance than they did in the 3-1 home loss to Villa on May 7 if they are to pick up the point they need to climb out of the relegation zone.

‘I can’t say too much about it, but we learned a lot as a group,’ said interim boss Jackson.

‘I learned a lot about myself as well, regarding the game.

‘We know that now. We knew that on the day, but you learn these little things after (the game) sometimes.

‘There’s things we know we could have done better but we still created chances. So take the good out of what we did, but be a bit more wary.’

Jackson is hoping that some of his injured players will be fit in time for the clash at Villa Park, or if not, then for Sunday’s final game of the season against Newcastle at Turf Moor.

However, Ashley Westwood and Matej Vydra will not be featuring again for the club this season as both are out for a number of months.

Meanwhile, Villa boss Steven Gerrard has confirmed that defender Ezri Konsa will be sidelined for up to four months after suffering a knee injury in Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace.

Kick-off: 8pm, Villa Park. TV: LIVE on Sky Sports Main Event.
