Jack Hendry gives Scotland a major boost with return to action ahead of crunch Euro 2024 clashes

Jack Hendry has given Scotland boss Steve Clarke a Euro 2024 boost by returning to action.

The classy central defender has now fully recovered from the knee injury that saw him pull out of the opening qualifying double header wins over Cyprus and Spain. Hendry has been struggling with the issue since February but played 45 minutes for Club Brugges II team in the 3-1 defeat to RWDM in the Challenger Pro League.

The 28-year-old is set to up his game time by turning out for Brugges second string in the Belgian second tier clash with SK Beveren on Saturday. If Hendry comes through unscathed from that then he will return to the first-team fold at Brugge for the final games in the Championship round. They have Antwerp, Genk and Union Saint-Gilloise and Clarke will be looking for Hendry to get some game time before he names his squad for the trip to Norway and the home clash with Georgia.

Clarke is already down in defensive options with Scott McKenna and Grant Hanley both out of the summer qualifiers. Hendry has become a key figure in recent qualifying campaigns for Clarke.
