Jack Grealish reaches out to Nottingham Forest player after Blackburn win

Manchester City attacker Jack Grealish has sent a message of encouragement to Aston Villa loanee Keinan Davis after he helped Nottingham Forest beat Blackburn Rovers 2-0 last night.

Steve Cooper’s side continued their brilliant recent run by beating fellow promotion hopefuls Blackburn at Ewood Park with James Garner and Brennan Johnson on the scoresheet.

Johnson scored from the penalty spot in the second half to secure the three points but while Garner produced some smart footwork and a tidy finish for the opener, it was Davis that made the goal.

The forward picked up the ball in his own half and danced through three defenders before holding off another as he drove towards the opposition box and played his teammate through.

Davis posted a clip of the goal on his Twitter account after the game and Grealish – his former Villa teammate – reached with the 23-year-old quick to respond.

Having joined at the start of January, the Villa loanee has made a strong start to life at the City Ground – scoring twice and providing two assists already – and become a key player due to Lewis Grabban’s injury.

The Verdict

Davis has been fantastic since arriving at Forest and it’s great to see one of his former teammates reaching out to him after last night’s win.

Grealish knows exactly what it takes to thrive at Championship level and it seems he’s a big fan of the 23-year-old.

The January arrival is already a popular figure among the Reds fanbase and his popularity is only going to continue to grow if he can continue to produce performances like last night.

It was a hugely impressive win for Cooper’s team and one that sees them climb into the top six.
