ANDY NEWPORT: It all depends on whether they can find a replacement. There’s talk Mathias Kvistgaarden is the man they want. If they can get a deal done it could be a shrewd bit of business.

FRASER WILSON: Good business if they have a replacement lined up. Extremely risky if they don’t get a suitable replacement before the end of January. Kyogo was one of a kind and a big game player. If he wanted away then there was no point standing in his way with Champions League progression secured and £10m is a good deal.

SCOTT BURNS: It is a difficult one because Kyogo Furuhashi always wanted to go to one of the top five leagues. He was denied a move in the summer but now is the time to maximise their money.

ANDY NEWPORT: He’s certainly no longer the undroppable figure he was last year. At that stage it looked like he was set to join Allan McGregor and Andy Goram in Ibrox’s list of goalkeeping greats. But he’s been nowhere near those levels lately. If he can’t find his form Liam Kelly deserves a run.

FRASER WILSON: I was surprised he was thrown straight back in for such a big occasion. Liam Kelly had been performing well enough. However to backtrack and drop Butland now would look weak and he has to respond positively.

SCOTT BURNS: Jack Butland will keep his place but he should be looking over his shoulder. His form this season was poor even before his injury.

ANDY NEWPORT: It’s too early to say. The Dons were always favourites to see off Elgin. Stephen Robinson’s well-drilled St Mirren will be a tougher challenge but if Thelin’s team can win, it can give them the injection of confidence they badly need.
