Ivan Perisic and Harry Kane start - Tottenham predicted line-up for Manchester United fixture

Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur will both be going in pursuit of maximum points for different reasons when they go head-to-head at Old Trafford on Wednesday evening.

United, at the time of writing, will enter their second home game in just four days three points and one place away from the top-four, whereas Tottenham, who lost 3-2 on their last visit to M16, are four points and two places shy of current table-toppers Arsenal. They beat Everton 2-0 on Saturday to move to within a point of the Gunners, ahead of Mikel Arteta's side regaining their four-point cushion over their local rivals less than 24 hours later with a 1-0 win at Leeds United.

Since losing 3-1 to Arsenal in the North London derby just over a fortnight ago, Spurs have won three of their last four matches in all competitions, ensuring they have suffered no hangover from that setback at the Emirates Stadium. They have won their last two league matches without conceding.

Under the guidance of Antonio Conte, who was interested in replacing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Old Trafford almost a year ago, Spurs have made sufficient progress and look capable of mounting a genuine title charge this season. However, they have been rocked by the loss of summer signing Richarlison to injury.

He went off in Saturday's win over Everton and has been ruled out of the trip to Old Trafford. Considering Spurs have often played with a 3-4-3 in recent weeks, such is Conte's favouritism with that particular formation, he is likely to award a starting berth to one of the likes of Lucas Moura or Ivan Perisic in the forward areas.
