ITV Wheel of Fortune hit with complaints as fans say new reboot 'is not the same'
Viewers of ITV's Wheel of Fortune reboot were left exasperated, venting their frustration at their TV screens.
The revered gameshow made a triumphant comeback to television on Saturday night (January 4), launching its new series. After a twenty-year break, the show was revamped in 2024.
Originally airing between 1988 and 2001 for a whopping 14 series, the refreshed version is now hosted by Graham Norton and maintains the classic format where contestants spin a giant wheel in hopes of winning substantial cash prizes.
This year's jackpot presents a staggering £50,000, setting the stakes high as participants select letters to crack the puzzles presented.
Despite the excitement surrounding the latest instalment, avid fans took to various platforms to decry the changes, with several deeming "it's not the same as the original". Over on Twitter, one disgruntled viewer exclaimed: "The worst game show and host on TV.", reports the Mirror.
Another remarked: "I think graham Norton does a good job with this... not like the original but he does his best.." One more person proclaimed: "Wheel of Fortune is without a shadow of a doubt the sh*****t gameshow ever."
"Incredulity sums up my reaction: why have they resurrected this garbage," one viewer articulated, with another concurring: "Not the same as the original."
Graham Norton has shared his enthusiasm for leading the show's revival, remarking: "I'm thrilled we are coming back for a second series to challenge more contestants to solve more word puzzles and hopefully they come away with even more cash."
"It's a game of skill and luck, so you just never know which way it will go and I'm excited to see who can hold their nerve against the wheel."
