ITV This Morning's Rylan Clark halts show to issue breaking news live on air

This Morning's broadcast was briefly interrupted by host Rylan Clark as he delivered some "breaking news" to the audience.

During a discussion with co-host Josie Gibson and panellist Gyles Brandreth about the Paris Olympics following Sunday's (August 11) closing ceremony, and ahead of the upcoming Paralympic Games, the team took a moment to celebrate Team GB's success.

Gyles expressed his enjoyment of the games, stating: "We enjoyed the French experience hugely and we enjoyed all our medals, which is a fantastic achievement."

Rylan then proudly noted: "We were third in the medals table, the collective medal table."

The conversation took a humorous turn when Gyles added: "If you count the King as the head of state of this country and all the other Commonwealth countries, I think our King Charles as head of state did better than all the others!", reports the Express.

Seizing the opportunity for a light-hearted announcement, Rylan declared to viewers: "He's won the Olympics. King Charles has won the Olympics, there's your breaking news story for today! ".

The segment also saw Gyles taken aback by Rylan's updated appearance, sporting blonde streaks in his hair, which Rylan insisted were natural from the sun, not highlights. Gyles remarked on Rylan's changed look, saying: "We're excited to be with you but a bit thrown, because your look, if I may say so... there's something different about you."

"Can I say the sun has done you a favour? You're looking younger than springtime. When you and I walked past two boys from Mr England..." Gyles Brandreth lavished praise on Rylan Clark's appearance, with Rylan responding appreciatively: "We both had a swoon, didn't we?"
