ITV Good Morning Britain viewers confused as Boris Johnson is late for interview 'in his own house'

It's been a five-year wait but Boris Johnson finally made an appearance on Good Morning Britain as he sat down for an interview with Susanna Reid. The presenter headed to Downing Street to speak to the Prime Minister live on Tuesday's show (May 3).

The conversation comes three years after Mr Johnson famously ran away from her and Piers by hiding in a fridge in the lead up to the 2019 general election and a whopping 1790 days - nearly five years - since the PM has spoken to GMB.

The interview between Susanna and Mr Johnson was confirmed and Monday (May 2) and teased on the show right up until the PM was due to sit down with the presenter, 51, at 8.15am.

However, there was a delay and Richard Madeley and Ranvir Singh, who were on hand to host the rest of the show from the ITV studio, had to fill in with an interview with comedian and TV star Patrick Kielty.

And GMB viewers were left baffled by Mr Johnson's late arrival. @Zinaad tweeted: "I see Johnson is supposedly on #GMB live from @10DowningStreet at 8.15. [He] is 20 minutes late for an interview in his own house. How can that happen?"

@FinEarly said: "Boris Johnson was literally 20 minutes late for an interview in his living room. I give up #gmb."

"#gmb Boris is running late he lives there ffs lol he just wants to cut short the interview," @JamesDawson911 suggested as @Cherrieschapel fumed: "How is he running late in his own house? What a blatant show of disrespect. #gmb."

"What a fantastic interview by the incredible @susannareid100. It's a shame we didn't have more time, perhaps if he didn't arrive LATE we could have got more questions in there. Thank you team Susanna
