ITV Emmerdale star Lisa Riley reveals rival Coronation Street role and fans 'didn't realise'

Emmerdale fans were treated to a 'good flashback' from actress Lisa Riley who shared an old photo of her appearing on ITV's other soap Coronation Street. She briefly appeared in the show in 1992 before making her debut in Emmerdale in 1995.

Although best known for taking on the role of Mandy Dingle in Emmerdale, Lisa Riley first appeared in Weatherfield before ditching it for the Dales. Lisa was hired as a young shop assistant who was an unnamed employee at "Bettabuy" which was there then local supermarket on Albert Road.

While it was an uncredited role for Lisa, Corrie great's such as Reg Holdsworth (Ken Morley), Curly Watts (Kevin Kennedy), Andy McDonald (Nicholas Cochrane), Vera Duckworth (Elizabeth Dawn), Ivy Brennan (Lynne Perrie) and Maureen Holdsworth (Sherrie Hewson) also worked at the budget-friendly store.

Taking to her Instagram, Lisa posted the photo of her 14-year-old self with the caption: "YES!!! This is me in @coronationstreet 1992 playing the new staff member in 'BetterBuys' many many many years ago!! Good flashback."

Anthony Crank, who starred in Coronation Street as Dean Turnbull who was responsible for supplying Abi Webster with drugs, commented: "I remember this first hand!" and Tracy-Ann Oberman best known for her roles in Eastenders and Friday Night Dinner added: "so beautiful."

Fans also flocked to the comments, @beautielady wrote: "Wow I didn't realise it's you in coronation street! I thought only Emmerdale!" and @sallyjackstvmum penned: "Brilliant. Bettabuy has since become Freshco, and Lisa bid farewell to Weatherfield after this one-time
