“It was a strange afternoon for Boro” – Middlesbrough fan pundit reacts to 2-1 defeat at Bristol City

Middlesbrough suffered a reality check 2-1 defeat at Bristol City on Saturday and have fallen out of the play-off places as a result.

Sheffield United leapfrogged Boro after their commanding 4-0 victory over Swansea City leaving Chris Wilder with a lot to contemplate ahead of the visit of West Bromwich Albion on Tuesday evening.

Boro took a while to get going at Ashton Gate and once they did it was too late with Andreas Weimann and Antoine Semenyo both chipping in with a goal and an assist to claim an excellent win for the Robins.

The loss ended a run of just one defeat in 13 for Boro and with the chasing pack gathering strength by the week in the Championship, they will be desperate to get back on track when they take on the Baggies and Barnsley this week.

Middlesbrough fan pundit Dana Malt is not panicking after the defeat and believes that Boro still put in a solid performance at Ashton Gate.

Speaking to Football League World, Malt said: “No, I’m not concerned after the defeat against Bristol City.

“It was a strange afternoon for Boro, a really frustrating afternoon for Boro, Chris Wilder said after the match that it was a headscratcher.

“I completely echo that, it was a decent performance overall, okay Boro weren’t great, but we weren’t disastrous, it was just one of those afternoons where we had our opportunities, we just didn’t take them.
