"It was a mistake. She had a few glasses of wine": Drink driver, 86, flipped her Fiat 500 after crashing into two parked cars following lunchtime drink
An 86-year-old woman has become one of the country's oldest convicted drink drivers after flipping her Fiat 500 on its side. Brenda Black crashed into two parked cars during the evening rush hour, having enjoyed a glass of wine over lunch with a male friend.
The pensioner had to be freed from the wreckage after being trapped in her car. Wirral Magistrates Court heard Black had 'no recollection' of the crash, but admitted her decision to drive was a 'misjudgement and mistake'.
Black, who turns 87 next month, suffered minor injuries following the prang in Birkenhead, Merseyside. She was found to be over the drink drive limit, with 102 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood, compared to the limit of 80mg.

Lionel Cope, prosecuting, said: “On the afternoon or evening of June 22 there was a three-vehicle minor injury traffic collision on Wethersfield Road, Birkenhead. Mrs Black collided with two parked vehicles causing her Fiat to flip on its side trapping Mrs Black in the vehicle.
"The emergency services attended sometime after and Mrs Black was removed. She was conveyed to Arrowe Park Hospital to be assessed.
"She said she had left her friend Paul's house and admitted having a glass of wine before driving. She had no recollection of the collision itself. She has no previous convictions."
Black's solicitor, Quentin Neal, said his client had been driving for 65 years and had an unblemished record, with no previous convictions. He added that Black felt she was fine to drive, but she now bitterly regrets her decision.
He added: “She started work at 15 and stopped work at 60, getting people into work. She is a lady of good character. This
