'It's incredible' - Thomas Frank makes feelings clear on Erik ten Hag amid Man United criticism

Brentford head coach Thomas Frank has sympathised with Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag ahead of Saturday's Premier League clash at Old Trafford, insisting the criticism the Dutchman has faced is "too much".

Ten Hag is under intense pressure at Old Trafford after overseeing a run of five matches in all competitions without a victory. United have also failed to score in each of their last three league games.

Despite their ongoing struggles, Ten Hag has been granted a stay of execution by the United hierarchy and he will be keen to turn the club's fortunes around, starting with the visit of the Bees.

But for Frank, who has been heavily linked with the prospect of potentially replacing Ten Hag at Old Trafford, the United boss has not warranted the level of scrutiny he has been under, highlighting the fact he has won two trophies in as many seasons at the club.

"It's incredible how much scrutiny he's had to face," said Frank in his pre-match press conference. "As a head coach, I acknowledge how it feels to be in a situation like this. I think [the criticism] is too much.

"He's clearly a good coach, he's won two trophies in two seasons. But I understand how it is: if the team wins, the head coach is absolutely fantastic; if the team loses, the head coach is absolutely s***! Whereas it's probably somewhere in between.

"It's never only the head coach, or the players, or the fans, or the board - it's a combination of all of these things."
