"It's a disaster - Journalist reacts to huge news coming out of Newcastle United

Kieran Trippier’s injury setback is a ‘disaster’ for Newcastle United and their hopes of avoiding relegation, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The 31-year-old has made an instant impact since arriving from Atletico Madrid via a £12 million deal in the January transfer window but is now set for an extensive spell on the sidelines.

Trippier scored directly from a free-kick for the second time in two games over the weekend, bagging the winning goal against Aston Villa to secure a potentially crucial three points.

In his four games for Newcastle to date, Trippier has remained unbeaten, guiding them to three successive Premier League victories while securing two clean sheets.

Before his arrival, the North East outfit had only managed one win and one shutout in the top-flight, highlighting the experienced campaigner’s outstanding impact.

Newcastle’s recent run of good form has seen them escape the bottom three and open up a four-point gap to 18th-placed Norwich City.
