“It could be a really solid signing” – Watford set sights on Swansea City attacker: The verdict

This article is part of Football League World’s ‘The Verdict’ series, which provides personal opinions from the FLW writers regarding the latest breaking news, teams, players, managers, potential signings and more…

Watford have emerged interested in Swansea City striker Michael Obafemi, as per our Football League World exclusive.

The report states that the Hornets will face competition from current divisional counterparts Brighton & Hove Albion.

With the Hertfordshire club looking increasingly likely to suffer an immediate relegation back to the Championship, the Hornets will be eager to compile a squad that is capable of bouncing straight back.

The 21-year-old has returned 11 goals in 30 Championship appearances this season, with 18 of these appearances coming in the form of starts.

Three of our writers here at FLW have shared their thoughts regarding Watford’s interest in the exciting forward…

Obafemi has had a difficult few years before finding this rich vein of form under Russell Martin.

But it is easy to forget that the Irish international is only 21-years old and is still developing his game.

But Swansea should aim to keep hold of the youngster, who has 11 league goals this season including six in his last nine appearances.

George Dagless

It might be worth a punt.

Obafemi has had a pretty good season I think it’s fair to say with a very good goals per game ratio
