Russell Martin issues message to Swansea City supporters following the season’s conclusion

The 36-year old took charge of the South Wales club at the beginning of the season and led the team to a 15th place finish in the table.

It was a transitional season for the club having lost Steve Cooper as manager over the summer.

The team had also lost the play-off final at Wembley to Brentford, but were unable to replicate that same form under their current head coach.

But a good run of performances at the end of the season showed the potential in the side.

Martin has posted to social media his thanks for the support that Swansea fans have shown this campaign.

“A crazy year that we didn’t expect, moving to a new club and city (again!) has been a brilliant experience and I’m so thankful that we are all here and experiencing it together,” wrote Martin, via Instagram.

“Everyone at @swansofficial have made us so welcome from day one and we are loving being part of the Swans family.

“Thanks to everyone at the club behind the scenes, they have supported us so much this season and it has meant so much to us all.

“A season of transition, change, building and growth.”

Martin went on to write about his excitement for next season further in the caption.

The former MK Dons boss has claimed he wants to build a team that the fans can be proud of, and that he is hopeful for an even better campaign over the next 12 months.

“So grateful to be Head Coach of this special club and for how much the players have given us since we walked through the door at Fairwood,” added Martin.

“A brilliant group to work with every day and I’ve enjoyed watching our team grow so much. Already excited about next season and ensuring we improve on this one.
