Isthmian League round-up: Leaders Ramsgate and Sittingbourne both win, Ashford beat Deal - Cray Wanderers beat Chatham Town in Isthmian Premier
Leaders Ramsgate remain four points clear after coming from behind to defeat Phoenix Sports on Saturday.
Both sides were reduced to 10 men midway through the first half when former Gills man Lee Martin and Phoenix’s Isaac Thompson saw red after a coming together.
Phoenix went ahead on 36 minutes when debutant Jamarie Brissett produced an accomplished right-foot finish.
But Ramsgate levelled when Aaron Barnes headed in a corner before the break and Alfie Paxman volleyed them ahead early in the second half.
Joe Taylor’s penalty made it 3-1 on the hour before Paxman scored his second of the afternoon to wrap up the points in front of another four-figure crowd.
Former Dartford striker Ade Azeez marked his Sittingbourne debut with a goal.
The Billericay forward has joined the Brickies on loan for a month and took 33 minutes to open his account at Steyning Town.
Although an own goal levelled the scores on the stroke of half-time, Sittingbourne substitute Anthony Church repeated last week’s FA Trophy goalscoring exploits by coming off the bench to score the winner – albeit this week he did it with 13 minutes remaining to help his team to a 2-1 success.
Two goals in two minutes immediately before half-time helped Margate to a 3-0 home win over Lancing.
Player-boss Ben Greenhalgh’s delicate 44th-minute free-kick put Gate ahead before Ibrahim Olutade doubled the advantage from close range – his first goal since December 28.
Olutade added a third midway through the second half to take his tally to 21 for the season.
At the other end of the table, Hythe Town are now four points from safety following a crucial 2-0 success over AFC Croydon Athletic.
After last week’s red-card drama, it was a calm afternoon at Reachfields with just one
