Circuits of Africa, Lagos partner to build Formula 1 race track
The state-of-the-art facility will set a new benchmark for motorsport infrastructure in Africa offering the most advanced and highest-grade racing conditions on the continent.
Plans for the race track facility were disclosed during a high-level meeting in Lagos, during the week to formalise agreement for the project between Circuits of Africa, CEO, Siu-Anne MarieGill, and key stakeholders from the Lagos State government.
Officials of the state government include Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Sam Egube; Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Oluyinka Olumide; Director General of the Lagos State Sports Commission, Mr Lekan Fatodu, and Surveyor General of Lagos State, Ayokunnu Adesina, among others.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, CEO of Circuits of Africa, Siu-Anne Marie Gill, said: “This project transcends motorsport. It’s about driving economic development, expanding infrastructure, and stimulating a new wave of talent in Africa.
“Lagos is the ideal location for this ambitious vision, and we are thrilled to collaborate with the government and international investors to bring it to life. I wish to extend many thanks to Mr. Seyi Tinubu for providing direction to this initiative from the get-go, and Hon. James Faleke for lending his support,” she said.
Gill commended Mr. Seyi Tinubu for being a strong advocate for sustainable development under the Renewed Hope Agenda, and praised the initiative for its commitment to youth empowerment and national progress.
