Isle of Man TT: Roadside footage underlines crazy speed riders travel at during event

The Isle of Man TT is ongoing this week in what many see as the Holy Grail for motorcycle riding and racing.

It’s an event that started in the early 20th century and has been a staple nearly every year since, with a host of races taking place on the island, as the roads are closed to the public and opened up to some of the finest riders around.

It’s incredibly dangerous, with a lot of the street furniture left in place but that doesn’t stop the riders attacking every inch of the tarmac with as much speed as you’d see on a purpose-built circuit.

Tragedy is unfortunately just around the corner regularly at the TT, however, with this year’s event already claiming the lives of three competitors so far.

Riders Davy Morgan and Mark Purslow as well as sidecar passenger Oliver Lavorel have all sadly passed away over the course of the event, and the hope has to be in the remaining days of the TT that we’ll see no more accidents.

Ultimately, motorbike riders at this level are a different breed and, despite the regular reminder of the massive risks at this event, they still twist the throttle and give it full beans the next time they’re out on the course.
