Isle of Man TT: Peter Hickman pays tribute to competitors killed at 2022 event

Peter Hickman took time out from his Isle of Man TT celebrations to pay tribute to the five riders killed at this year's event.

Hickman put in another dominant display to win Saturday's blue riband Senior TT, finishing 16.9 seconds in front of Dean Harrison with Manxman Conor Cummins third.

It saw the Gas Monkey BMW rider make it four victories at this year's Isle of Man, and brings the curtain down on what has been a thrilling yet tragic TT meeting.

Five competitors lost their lives over the fortnight, including father and son Sidecar crew Roger and Bradley Stockton and Co Down competitor Davy Morgan.

"Our thoughts are with the people who are unfortunately not coming home with us this time," Hickman said after his Senior win.

"It has not been a great TT for that sort of thing. We all know the risks, and we are here because we love it.

"A lot of people don't understand us, and I get that.

"But honestly my thoughts are with you all."

Hickman took a commanding lead on the opening lap of Saturday's six-lap Senior TT and never looked back.

He had opened up a 10-second lead by Ballaugh on lap two and maintained that advantage to the finish.

It saw Hickman double up his Superbike wins at this year's TT, which he can add to his victories in the Superstock and Supertwin classes.

"What a week. As per usual massive highs and lows throughout the week for everyone," he said.

"The Gas Monkey BMW team were absolutely phenomenal once again, and the bike has just been ace.

"We actually had an issue in the race which wasn't great, but we managed what we had to manage and never let the gap get below 10 seconds once we got it.

"We sat there and tried to chill out and not break the thing. But she made it to the end.

"Thanks to everyone
