Is Manchester blue or red? Draw the football fan map with our United vs City FA Cup final survey

Wembley will play host to the first-ever Manchester derby FA Cup final on June 3 as the city’s footballing rivalry is played out on the biggest stage.

But which parts of Greater Manchester will be cheering on United and what are the areas who are rooting for City? Here's your chance to help us find out.

Our region is the home of one of football’s oldest and greatest local rivalries. City fans love to argue they are the only real club in Manchester - thanks to United’s location in Trafford - while many United fans often claim the Blues' fan base is really in Stockport and Tameside.

The MEN is conducting a fan survey to discover the red and blue strongholds around our region. Take part in the survey here:

We know that our unscientific survey will never settle the argument once and for all - but it should offer an interesting insight into the state of our footballing region ahead of the cup final.

When we ran a similar poll in 2018, more than 25,000 fans took part. It showed United’s strongholds were mainly around Trafford and Salford, while City saw their strongest support in Dukinfield and East Manchester.

But has the football map changed in the last five years as Pep Guardiola's side has become one of the best in Europe, while United have gone through five managers without winning a single league title?

There have been 189 meetings between the two Manchester giants since they first clashed back in 1881, as St Mark’s (West Gorton) - now Manchester City - faced Newton Heath LYR - now United. In that time, City have won 58 times, but still trail United’s win total of 78, with 53 drawn matches.

But despite more than 140 years of history between these two city rivals, the pair have never before met in the FA Cup final.
