Is Erling Haaland fit to start for Man City vs Liverpool FC? Injury news latest and FPL update

Manchester City are sweating on the fitness of Erling Haaland to face Liverpool at the weekend.

Haaland picked up an injury on international duty with Norway against the Faroe Islands during the recent break. The striker then missed his side's match against Scotland at Hampden Park.

Liverpool visit the Etihad in a mouthwatering top-of-the-table clash on Saturday lunchtime. A lot could depend on whether Haaland is fit to play against Jurgen Klopp's men - and here the Manchester Evening News rounds up the latest on his situation.

Norway manager Stale Solbakken admitted that the ankle problem isn't too serious an issue, though he did suggest that it wouldn't be the easiest injury to come back from in terms of the Liverpool game. Solbakken said of Haaland's injury before last weekend's clash vs Scotland: “It’s a big blow for any team but we have played without him before, sometimes with success, sometimes without.

“We started the qualification when he was not ready for the first two games, but after that he has played every single game so it was unfortunate for us that he got the small knock on Thursday. It’s the movement in his foot that is the problem but it’s not a serious injury. Had it been a final, I don’t know (if he would have been fit to play). All parties agree it is probably a little too early (for him to play) but it is not a career-threatening injury.”
