CrossfireX has finally arrived and the phenomenon in the Far East is looking to have a similar effect across the rest of the globe.

The question on whether the first-person shooter is free-to-play or not is one that gamers have been asking, with Remedy and Smilegate looking to compete directly with the likes of Call of Duty and Battlefield 2042.

The gaming industry, as a whole, is beginning to move in a completely new direction, thanks to the models adopted by the developers of Fortnite and Apex Legends – who opted to go with a free game with microtransactions.

While this method is proving to be hugely controversial, some are asking whether CrossfireX have followed in their footsteps.

Having only been released in February 2022, Remedy and Smilegate’s creation is still relatively new and players are getting to grips with the first Crossfire addition to the series since 2007 and is an Xbox exclusive, at the time of writing.
