Liverpool can cut the gap to three points with a win over Leeds United on Wednesday, and the two sides will meet at the Etihad in a potential title decider on April 9.
The weekend’s results have undoubtedly reignited a title race that many feared was already over, and Richards insists that Jurgen Klopp has built a squad of players capable of competing with City.
“It only takes one slip up, and Liverpool have got a squad now. He told BBC Radio 5 Live Sport .
“They’ve got people like [Luis] Diaz coming in, [Naby] Keita is playing well, [Alex] Oxlade-Chamberlain as well.
“[Joe] Gomez even got a start the other day and [Kostas] and Tsimikas, they have got a stronger squad. ”
Richards also claimed that City’s defeat to Spurs may just be the warning they needed to ensure complacency doesn’t creep into their game.
He added: “Man City were always going to drop points, especially when it came to the time around the Champions League, we all knew that was going to happen.
