Ireland's Will Keane fires Wigan to League One title as Georgie Kelly nets from Chiedozie Ogbene assist for promoted Rotherham

Republic of Ireland international Will Keane's brace sealed Wigan's League One title as they recorded a 3-0 win at Shrewsbury.

Striker Keane ended the campaign as the division's top goalscorer, taking his tally to 26, to beat Sunderland's Ross Stewart who finished with 24.

The Latics cruised to the title to complete their promotion to the Championship, with Shrewsbury's Josh Vela scoring an own goal to set the visitors on their way.

James McClean, returning from injury, was able to feature for 68 minutes to cap a season in which he was named in the division's Team of the Year.

Keane's double ensured Wigan took the points and the title, with Rotherham finishing second despite winning 2-0 at Gillingham - who, as a result, were relegated - thanks to Rarmani Edmonds-Green and former Bohemians striker Georgie Kelly.

The Donegal man's 89th minute goal saw Ireland international Chiedozie Ogbene provide the assist with a low cross from the right flank as the Millers made sure of their place in next season's second tier.

Scott Twine struck four goals as MK Dons finished third by thumping 10-man Plymouth 5-0 at Home Park.

Jordan Houghton was sent off for Plymouth, with Harry Darling also on target for the rampant Dons.

Ireland striker Troy Parrott started up front alongside Twine, with the Under-21s' Conor Coventry in midfield as MK Dons turn their attentions to the play-offs after missing out on automatic promotion by a point.

Sheffield Wednesday dispatched Portsmouth 4-1 to hold onto fourth, with Lee Gregory, Saido Berahino and Jordan Storey all delivering before half-time.

George Hirst had opened the scoring for the visitors, but Wednesday were not to be denied, with George Byers glossing the score at the death.
