Invicta Dynamos beat MK Thunder 13-1 and Oxford City Stars 7-0 in NIHL South Division 1 – Reaction from head coach Karl Lennon

Invicta Dynamos brushed aside the bottom two with a professional display and some ruthless finishing over the weekend.

The Mos ended their year with a 7-0 win at the Oxford City Stars on Saturday and followed it up with a 13-1 triumph over Milton Keynes Thunder on Sunday.

Back to back wins saw them climb up a place to fourth in the NIHL South Division 1 table, victories that come off the back of last weekend’s double success over leaders Slough Jets.

Head coach Karl Lennon said: “They were good performances on both days and professional performances. I am always worried when you play teams that you are expected to beat, that you just don’t show up, but we did and I was happy about that.

“Historically we have never travelled that well away at Oxford, we never play as well as we probably can do there, and this weekend it was always a potential banana skin, especially off the back of the week before with two wins over Slough. Those wins count for nothing if you don’t put a good score on the board against Oxford away.

“I was under no illusions it would be a difficult game and wanted to make sure the players were focused and they really were, right from the start.”

The Mos led 3-0 after the first period with goals from Stanislav Lascek, Tom Soar, Josh Condren. Four more were added in the second period through Ruskin Springer-Hughes, Mads Thune, Brandon Chard and another for Soar.

Netminder Owen Rider was named man-of-the-match for his shutout against the Stars after facing 48 shots.

Lennon said: “We rode our luck a little bit, they had some chances as well but we were very clinical with our finishing, very ruthless with any opportunities we got and any that they got Owen Rider was fantastic in goal.”
