Inter Milan will be back with goals, says confident Inzaghi

Inter Milan have the best attack in Serie A and the team will soon rediscover their form in front of goal, coach Simone Inzaghi said on Thursday.

Inter lost 2-0 at home to Liverpool in the first leg of the Champions League last-16 tie and missed the chance to climb back to the top of Serie A after suffering a 2-0 home defeat by Sassuolo last week.

Inzaghi said their lack of goals in the last two matches was not a major cause for concern.

"We have the best attack in Serie A and there is no problem with our strikers," Inzaghi told reporters ahead of Friday's match at Genoa.

"We start worrying when we cannot create (opportunities), but even against Sassuolo, we shot on goal 20 times, with 7-8 clear chances. We will return soon to scoring."

Inzaghi stressed the importance of the renewal of contracts of several players, including Croatia midfielder Marcelo Brozovic, Italy midfielder Nicolo Barella as well as Argentina striker and club top scorer Lautaro Martinez.

"We know how important that is (Brozovic's renewal), as well as those of Barella and Lautaro, I also wish for those of (Ivan) Perisic and (Samir) Handanovic," he said.

"They are always on the ball and work 24/7 to make sure that Inter Milan become even stronger and more competitive."

Inzaghi said new signing Robin Gosens had completed his first full training session since picking up a hamstring injury in September but did not disclose when the wing back could return to play.

The manager added striker Joaquin Correa would be back for the Coppa Italia match against AC Milan next week after recovering from a thigh injury he picked up in January.
