Integration steering group ask for county board submission as work continues

Every GAA county board has been asked to make a submission to the Steering Group on Integration [SGI] in the latest development aimed at equality and amalgamation in the sport.

The SGI, which consists of members of the Camogie Association, the Gaelic Athletic Association and the Ladies Gaelic Football Association, say the information received from the county boards will be part of its ongoing engagement and listening process.

A series of formal meetings with a number of county boards from across the three associations will also take place.

The steering group, chaired by former President of Ireland Mary McAleese, are reporting positive feedback and levels of engagement so far in their work.

President McAleese also spoke via video link to the annual congress of the GAA and the LGFA in recent weeks and will speak at the upcoming Camogie Association congress also.

Workshops were also held at the congresses, which were said to have provided very useful insights on the 'how' of integration as well as identifying challenges on the path to achieving it.

The sport continues to operate under a number of different banners which sees male and female players receiving differing opportunities and benefits.
