Journalist Dean Jones has claimed that West Ham United will try again in the summer to sign Kalvin Phillips from Leeds United.

West Ham United attempted to sign Kalvin Phillips in January for £50 million, but Leeds stayed strong and rejected the offer. Phillips is also on the radar of Aston Villa so it may be a busy summer for Leeds, as they will look to tie the Yorkshire midfielder down to a new deal.

Kalvin Phillips has spent a large period of this season sidelined due to injury, which has had a knock-on effect on the Whites’ form as they find themselves in a relegation battle. Phillips has featured just 12 times in the Premier League this season but was recently named on the bench against Wolves for the first time this year.

After the Hammers had a failed bid for Phillips in January, Dean Jones reported to GIVEMESPORT that the interest may still be there from West Ham in the summer.

“A lot of teams are interested in Kalvin Phillips. We’ve already seen West Ham make an offer in January, and I think they would probably try and be in the mix again,” Jones said.

Kalvin Phillips may not have featured much this campaign for Leeds, but was influential last campaign, he had an average passing accuracy of 85%, averaged 2.6 tackles per game, and had an average of 65 touches per game, as per Sofascore.

After a strong Euro 2020, Phillips would have been looking to push on and build on the impressive performances last campaign but has unfortunately suffered from injuries which have put a halt to what could have been his best season yet, especially after such a promising summer in an England shirt.
