Inside wild Ryder Cup celebrations as Shane Lowry tells teammate 'I f****** love you' and impromptu pool party ensues

Team Europe are basking in the glory of regaining the Ryder Cup and the celebrations have well and truly begun.

The writing was on the wall at Marco Simone Golf and Country Club after a whirlwind day one saw Luke Donald's side storm in to a commanding lead, equalling the previous record on opening day in the 44th iteration of the famous competition. Fast forward to Sunday afternoon in Rome and Tommy Fleetwood's Hollywood finish against Rickie Fowler sealed the deal for Europe with the final score coming it at 16.5-11.5 in the favour of the hosts.

It was glory days for Bob MacIntyre, Rory McIlroy and co who were all overcome with emotion by the end of play. But none were as excitable as one punter who dashed across the green to evade security and surrounding caddies before diving straight in for a celebratory swim at the edge of the green. The fan was then seen celebrating after coming up from underneath, while fans cheered along.

That sparked an en masse reaction as overhead cameras caught multiple fans going for a dip too. The clip was shared across social media with the caption: "We have fans in the water, repeat, fans in the water," followed by the rallying cry from fans of 'When in Rome.'

After the finale, captain Donald couldn't hold back his emotion, saying: “Pretty emotional. It’s been a long process, it’s been an amazing journey and I enjoyed this one. It was stressful. The US put up a fight today and hats off to them. Unbelievable, but I’m so proud of my 12 guys. We formed a bond from day one and they gave me everything. They trusted me and they delivered for me."

Buzzing Shane Lowry then couldn't hold back but in a different manner, as he was being interviewed he grabbed Fleetwood for an embrace and screamed:
