Alistair Johnston asked cheeky Celtic glory question as 'dunking on Rangers' troll gets measured response

Alistair Johnston says the demands at Celtic are sky-high - as he side-stepped a cheeky Rangers dig.

The Canadian international played his part in a crucial 2-1 win for Brendan Rodgers' side at Motherwell on Saturday, courtesy of a 97th minute Matt O'Riley strike sealing three points. Rangers' 3-1 defeat to Aberdeen left the current champions seven points ahead of their rivals but it was ahead of Saturday's action that Johnston was left ducking chances to land a jibe during an interview with CBS.

Former American international Jimmy Conrad was part of the panel putting questions to the defender. And when the 24-year-old was asked about Celtic expectations and last season's Treble joy, the former defender added "and also dunking on Rangers, how does it feel to dunk on Rangers?" Johnston calmly replied: "Look, I will start with the first part. I came in January and we already had a lead in the league and pretty far into all the cups already.

"I honestly didn't play a huge part in it. I just rode the coattails of the squad that took us to the promised land. It was a great start, I was six months into my Celtic career and I had already done a Treble. I don't think it gets much better than that.

"You are right about the expectations of winning. This is a club where winning is part of the DNA of the club.

"It's such a demand and expectation and with a city that has such a passionate fanbase, you are going to hear about it if you are not living up to standards and especially sharing the city with your biggest rivals. If you drop any points you don't want to show your face in the grocery store the next day."
