Ineos 'can give' Manchester United transfer advantage for Luke Shaw understudy and more rumours

Manchester United face another summer rebuild amid a disappointing campaign under Erik ten Hag which has seen the club go backwards.

There is optimism that new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his Ineos group can overhaul United's footballing operations and provide a strategy which will see the club compete for major honours again. This summer will be the new regime's first opportunity to enact changes to the playing squad at Old Trafford as United face a vital transfer window.

There does however remain uncertainty over which European competition United will be involved in next season, with Champions League football the main priority to earn greater revenue and attract better quality talent. And the rumour mill is in full swing as United look ahead to a summer rebuild which could see a huge number of changes

The Evening Standard reports that United are interested in Nice left-back Melvin Bard. They claim that the 23-year-old is being discussed as a summer transfer target amid the injury woes of Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia this season.

Bard has made 28 appearances for the Ligue 1 side this season with Nice owned by United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe's Ineos group. The Frenchman's current contract expires in June 2026.

Elsewhere, reports in Il Matino have claimed that United are also interested in Napoli right-back Giovanni Di Lorenzo. It is claimed that the Red Devils and Aston Villa have ‘tabled offers’ of personal terms for the Italy international, which will be ‘evaluated’ by the player.
