In-form Mageean enjoying the week of her dreams

Ciara Mageean is enjoying the week of her dreams, following her second place finish at the final Diamond League event of the season in Zurich.

The Portaferry athlete qualified for the prestigious finale of the athletics track calendar off the back of a record-breaking victory last weekend, where she won the Diamond League meet in Belgium.

Mageean beat a world class field last weekend, including Olympic silver medallist, and good friend, Laura Muir en route to secure a national record, while knocking over three seconds off her personal best.

One more race to run for the in-form Irish athlete, who travels to New York at the weekend to race the Fifth Avenue mile on the iconic streets of Manhattan.

"Oh my goodness, it's been the week of my dreams," said Mageean, speaking to Athletics Weekly after the race. "To run 3:56, and now to get into the Diamond League final and come second, what more could I ask for?

"It was a tactical race, it wasn't fast by any means, but it was a Diamond League final, it was never going to be. I put myself out there in a competitive position and I'm delighted to come home with silver."
