Igor Kononenko Charitable Foundation for the eighth year has been sending funds to support inclusive education in Kyiv

More than 160 children with special educational needs attend capital inclusive schools and kindergartens. Initially they undergo special training at the center, where, among the usual psychological methods, such unique rehabilitation techniques as canistherapy (treatment with specially trained dogs), correctional theater are used.

After completing a full rehabilitation course children have every chance to study in inclusive groups created within some ordinary kindergartens in Kyiv.

For example, since September 2007, such groups have been operating on the basis of three kindergartens in Obolonskyi district of Kyiv – No. 603, No. 662 and No. 291. In such groups healthy children and "special" boys and girls – those born with Down syndrome, autism, mental retardation, speech defects – are brought up and educated together.

Sponsors, philanthropists and ordinary people play a significant role in ensuring that special centers for the adaptation of special children continue to operate in Kyiv.

Earlier, “Me+Family” center was established in Obolonskyi district. It was created thanks to the NGO “In Child’s Palms”, which brought together like-minded educators. Subsequently, the Center received the official status of a municipal institution, and it helped to get funding to meet minimum needs. However, for the complex work of the center, which makes it unique, this was not enough. Throughout this time, “Me+Family” center together with the NGO “In Child's Palms” have been cooperating with Igor Kononenko Charitable Foundation. 

According to the representatives of the NGO “In Child’s Palms”, this year the Center needs money for further funding of the canistherapy project (dog treatment). This therapy has long been considered effective
