Ibrox latest news: 71-cap 'outstanding technician' has given GVB 'fear factor' at Rangers

Journalist Pete O’Rourke believes Rangers’ new signing Aaron Ramsey will provide ‘a bit of fear factor’ to their opponents following his arrival from Juventus.

Ramsey surprisingly joined the Gers on a short-term loan deal on Deadline Day last month, reportedly turning down multiple offers from the Premier League to sign for them.

According to various reports, the likes of Everton and Newcastle United were eager to bring the 31-year-old back to British football, but it was Burnley who had a formal approach turned down by the player.

Instead, Ramsey opted to sign for the reigning Scottish champions in an attempt to reignite his stalling career, much to the delight of the club’s supporters.

Rangers legend turned pundit Ally McCoist even hailed the acquisition of Ramsey as the biggest transfer the Glasgow giants have pulled off since Paul Gascoigne made the switch from Lazio in 1995.

And although the 71-cap Wales international perhaps doesn’t quite have the same stardom as Gascoigne, it’s easy to understand why McCoist has made the comparison.

During a successful 11-year stint at former club Arsenal, Ramsey notched up 130 goal contributions in 371 appearances, winning three FA Cups along the way.

His magnificent performances for the capital club led to Martin Keown labelling him an ‘outstanding technician’ before he moved to Juve on a free transfer in the summer of 2019.
