Ian Wright slams three Manchester United transfers including £55m man

Ian Wright has questioned whether Erik ten Hag should remain in charge at Manchester United. The Dutchman faces an increasingly uncertain future at Old Trafford.

Since replacing Ralf Rangnick in July 2022, Ten Hag has struggled to reestablish United among the Premier League's elite sides despite significant investment in new players. The Manchester Evening News recently reported that Sir Jim Ratcliffe is not 100 per cent sold on keeping Ten Hag beyond the end of this season.

Ratcliffe has outlined his intention to take United back to the "the very top of English, European and world football" and Ten Hag finds himself under pressure to prove his worth. United are currently sixth and no fewer 11 points adrift of fourth-placed Aston Vila, with only the FA Cup still to play for.

Not only have results been disappointing, but so have many performances on the pitch. That's according to Wright, who says he still doesn't recognise what Ten Hag's play style is.

Speaking on Premier League Productions, the former Arsenal striker cast doubt over the the manager's future. Wright said: "You have to look at, is this the manager to take them to the next level?

"If you are looking at it now, I still don’t know what their main structure of play is. You can’t buy players like Antony and it doesn’t work. (Sofyan) Amrabat coming in and it doesn’t work. Why did you buy Mason Mount?
