Ian Wright and Gary Neville agree on ‘outstanding’ Man United star amid Ruben Amorim confusion

Former Manchester United right-back Gary Neville and former Arsenal striker Ian Wright have both questioned Ruben Amorim's decision to drop Amad.

The 22-year-old was one of six changes made by Amorim for Wednesday's 2-0 defeat to Arsenal. Joshua Zirkzee and Marcus Rashford, who both scored braces at the weekend, joined the Ivory Coast international on the bench at the Emirates Stadium.

Amad was brought on at half-time in place of Tyrell Malacia, who had been booked in his first Premier League start of the season. Despite the Red Devils going down 2-0, Amad continued to look a danger down the right for United.

During their watchalong of the game on The Overlap, Neville and Wright were full of praise for Amad. "That guy [Amad] frightens me to death," Wright said. Neville agreed with Wright, complementing the winger's performances at right wing-back. "Amad has been the best player at Man United for the last few weeks. He has been outstanding!"

Amad came off the bench to cause Oleksandr Zinchenko all sorts of problems, forcing the Ukraine international to receive a booking. He did more than enough to warrant a start against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Wright and Neville went on to question the decision to start Mason Mount, who hadn't been named in a Premier League XI since the 3-0 defeat to September. "I can't believe they didn't start him," they agreed. "He worries me but what are they doing getting Mason Mount on?"
