Damning Ruben Amorim moment vs Tottenham could spell the end for one Man United star

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim appeared to be at the end of his tether with Antony during last night's 4-3 defeat against Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup.

The Brazilian was given his opportunity to impress on Thursday after finding himself playing second fiddle to Amad since Ruben Amorim's departure. Antony was employed in the No.10 role which was unfamiliar to him prior to the Portuguese's arrival.

During the match, Amorim could be seen directing instructions to Antony but was clearly frustrated as his struggles epitomised United's difficulties in North London. At one stage, the Reds' head coach could be seen bowing his head in frustration before turning his back on the pitch.

To add insult to injury, Antony was forced off on 55 minutes with Tottenham cruising at 3-0. He would be replaced by Amad who nearly sparked an unlikely comeback, scoring to make it 3-2 little more than ten minutes after coming onto the pitch.

In the end, it was too little, too late for the Reds who crashed out of the competition. But, it did provide more evidence, if needed, that Antony finds himself in a precarious position under his new manager.

The winger has two-and-a-half years remaining on his contract at United but since joining he has only managed 12 goals in 84 appearances for the club. With the Reds desperate to rally funds for Amorim to spend, Antony finds himself at risk of being sold.

However, it is almost guaranteed that United will make a significant loss having signed the forward for £86m in Erik ten Hag's first summer transfer window.
