Ian Evatt gives Marlon Fossey knee injury Bolton Wanderers update and bold Ricardo Santos claim

Bolton Wanderers are poised to learn the outcome of the knee problem wing-back Marlon Fossey suffered which forced him off towards the end of the loss to Plymouth Argyle.

Wanderers went behind just before half-time after Macaulay Gillesphey headed home from Jordan Houghton's corner.

The hosts switched to a back four early in the second half and Wanderers looked much better for it.

Dion Charles saw a header saved by Michael Cooper, while substitute Elias Kachunga was unable to convert a golden chance to equalise as Wanderers were unable to get back into the clash as Wanderers slipped to a 1-0 loss at the University of Bolton Stadium.

The result leaves Wanderers in 11th place and now sitting 10 points from the top six and now looking very much as outsiders for the play-offs.

Fulham loanee Fossey went down on a couple of occasions and eventually limped off as full-time approached as Bolton ended the game with 10 men.

Evatt revealed that the wing-back has suffered twinges in his knee and was spotted after the game wearing protective equipment around his leg.

Wanderers will learn the extent of the knock Fossey has suffered and though Evatt hopes it is not serious, he is unsure of the severity at this stage.

He said: "He’s got a few twinges in his knee. He got a bit of a knock onto it. We think it’s more of a contact injury, which is a good sign but we’ll have to debrief and see how it settles. Probably tomorrow and Monday.

“Hopefully not (serious). I think he’s put a lot into the game and this is his first real run in men’s professional football and he’s done exceptionally well.
