“I wouldn’t be adverse to it” – Middlesbrough fan pundit gives Aaron Connolly verdict at Middlesbrough

Aaron Connolly arrived on loan from Brighton and Hove Albion at The Riverside in the January transfer window and is yet to catch fire for Middlesbrough.

Results have still been very strong for Boro despite Connolly’s slow start and he has shown promise in building a partnership with Folarin Balogun at the top of the pitch.

With Andraz Sporar, Duncan Watmore and Josh Coburn providing fierce competition for places on Teesside it will be interesting to see if Connolly maintains his place for the rest of the season.

FLW’s Middlesbrough fan pundit Dana Malt gave a balanced assessment of Connolly’s impact at the club, when asked if she would like him to remain at Boro beyond the end of the season.

Speaking to Football League World, Malt said: “It’s a difficult question about Aaron Connolly, because he is improving in this team and since Chris Wilder brought him in he’s put a lot of faith in him, starting him quite consistently.

“But he’s just not hitting the back of the net, he’s scored two goals for us this season, and one of those was definitely an own goal, one goal against Birmingham and then the other one was a massively deflected shot against Derby.

“I think all in all, he just needs something to come off for him, and to be honest I thought that goal against Derby when it did take a huge deflection, I think it was off Lee Buchanan, I thought that was going to be the luck that he needed but it just hasn’t quite worked out in front of goal for him.
