"I was told" - Source reveals 10 players could leave Newcastle this summer, names two

Up to 10 Newcastle United players could leave St James’ Park this summer, including defenders Jamal Lewis and Ciaran Clark, claims transfer insider Dean Jones.

The Tyneside club were active in the last window, and it looks like it will be a similar theme in the upcoming one.

The Magpies are without Callum Wilson and Kieran Trippier right now, but Howe will feel he has enough to steer the side to Premier League survival after a successful January window.

Alongside Trippier, Dan Burn, Bruno Guimaraes, Matt Targett and Chris Wood all joined Newcastle to help turn the club’s season around.

Howe’s men are now out of the relegation zone and into 14th place, picking up six wins from their last 10 games, which is impressive given that it took them until December to earn their first league victory of the campaign.

Ultimately, even with Wilson and Trippier sidelined, Newcastle look like they have enough in the tank to secure Premier League football for another year.

Howe, however, is unlikely to rest on his laurels, with Jones telling GIVEMESPORT that he could get rid of 10 players in the summer in a squad shake-up.

Speaking to GMS, the football journalist said: “Players will be leaving – maybe Lewis and Clark. I was told you can probably expect 10 players to leave Newcastle in the summer.”

As well as £15m Lewis and Clark, Miguel Almiron and Dwight Gayle look like they could also be heading for the St James’ Park exit door.

According to The Times, the two Newcastle attackers are likely to be part of what looks like an imminent exodus.

It will open up room for new arrivals, with Howe almost certain to recruit to prevent the Magpies ending up in another relegation
