"I've heard from people around City": Source reveals update on future of £130.5m-rated MCFC duo

Transfer insider Dean Jones thinks Manchester City will have to decide whether they want to keep attacking duo Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus at the club in the near future.

Sterling and Jesus look on course to win their fourth league titles at City in May, but their long-term futures are far from certain at the moment.

Having joined City in 2015, Sterling has been a major part of their success over the last seven years, racking up over 320 appearances.

However, his contract is set to expire in 2023, and he is yet to put pen to paper on a new deal.

Meanwhile, Jesus is also out of contract next year, and he was linked with a move away from the Premier League side as recently as last summer.

Jones has claimed that figuring out whether to hand Sterling and Jesus new deals is a talking point at City right now. He has hinted that the club will not stand in their way if either of the pair wishes to leave.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Jones said: “From what I’ve heard from people around City, one issue that is interesting centres around Jesus and Sterling contract talks.

“I think we are heading towards a time when a decision needs to be made over what’s happening next with both players. And as is almost always the case with City, they won’t force anyone to stay.”

Sterling started the season as a peripheral figure in the squad, and it seemed that he could opt to move elsewhere. He even talked about wanting to play abroad in the future.

He has come back into the reckoning in recent months, though, and won the Premier League Player of the Month award in December. The 27-year-old appears to be a key part of Pep Guardiola’s plans, as things stand, so it would be somewhat of a surprise to see him moved on.
