I spotted what Joshua Zirkzee did after leaving the Man United dressing room - he soon made his point

Manchester United opened their new Premier League campaign with a 1-0 win against Fulham.

United were defeated by Manchester City on penalties in the Community Shield last weekend but began the new season with a victory thanks to Joshua Zirkzee's late goal.

It wasn't a vintage performance from United and Fulham created their fair share of chances, but Zirkzee's goal was enough for the three points and to ensure a winning start.

Although Erik ten Hag warned United weren't prepared for the new season, the Reds have the best opening day record in Premier League history and delivered again at home.

Was Zirkzee frustrated?

Zirkzee was the first player to emerge from the dressing room for the second half. The new signing walked out, wearing his green substitute bib, and unusually took his seat on the bench well before any of his teammates had left the comfort of the players' tunnel.

You rarely see a player take their seat on the bench early and perhaps it was a sign of frustration from Zirkzee, or simply just the striker deciding to come out early and nothing more.

Either way, Zirkzee was finally given his debut on the hour mark when he replaced Mason Mount, but he was quiet when he was introduced and the game looked to be heading to a stalemate - until the Dutchman poked home from an Alejandro Garnacho cross and Old Trafford erupted.
